Sculpture Border Konstanz-Kreuzlingen

Since April 2007, the line of the border between Germany and Switzerland is no longer marked by a fence but by a sculpture border - unique throughout the world. For realising the sculpture border, Konstanz artist Johannes Dörflinger designed a work of art comprising 22 individual sculptures. The objects represent the trumps of the tarot, the "Great Arkana".

    It was a long way to realize the idea: In the year 2004, the two mayors Horst Frank (Konstanz) and Josef Bieri (Kreuzlingen) launched a joint initiative to tear down the border fence on the area of Klein Venedig.

    On the 27th of April 2006, the local council of the city of Konstanz accepted the donation agreement between the Johannes Dörflinger foundation and the cities of Konstanz and Kreuzlingen.
